Vortex-Radioss d3plot conversion

The Vortex-Radioss library is an open-source Python CAE tool that enables the reading of Radioss Animation files, Radioss Time-History files, and the conversion of Radioss Animation files into LS-Dyna’s D3plot format

Kitware Anim-VTKHDF

Kitware have developed a conversion tool for OpenRadioss Anim Files to Paraview VTKHDF, which has performance advantages in Paraview vs the standard anim-vtk tool included with OpenRadioss

Quick Guide for animtovtkhdf Installation on Windows machine:

Install Python 3.10 or later.

Download all files located at gitlab link above and put them in a local directory. This directory will be designated by  <openradioss-to-vtkhdf_Directory in the next steps.

Open a terminal from this directory (right click…)

Run the following commands:

python -m venv .venv

.venv\Scripts\activate.bat

python -m pip install .\

If you do not have a development environment, numpy v 1.26.4 may be missing, resulting in an error during the installation (“Preparing metadata step”). In that case, you can just modify the file pyproject.toml located in <openradioss-to-vtkhdf_Directoryand remove the line ”  “numpy==1.26.4”,”(line 15). Then, run again the installation command.

You can check the installation by running the following command (and look for animtovtkhdf):

pip list

Usage :

python -m animtovtkhdf [-h] [-q] [-n] [infiles …] outfile

“`

Positional arguments:

– `infiles`         input files to convert. All files must be part of a same time series, and have the same fields

– `outfile`         output file

Options:

– `-h`, `–help`      show this help message and exit

– `-q`, `–quiet`     do not show the conversion operation details

– `-n`, `–nostatic`  do not write cells as static.

(Use when the connectivity does not change between time steps. If not set, only points and field values will be changed at each timestep.)

Job Submission gui

OpenRadioss community members have developed a python based job submission gui to make the process of running OpenRadioss easier

NB: As of November 15th 2024 stable release, this tool is included in executable packages and no longer requires separate installation

inp2rad script

OpenRadioss community members have developed a python script to convert .inp format input decks to Radioss .rad format, it may be used as a standalone converter or as a plugin to the OpenRadioss job submission gui
